Ligasano is a pressure relieving and active cleansing dressing made of polyurethane foam. The dressing is completely air permeable, which means that moisture and heat do not accumulate against the skin, allowing the skin to maintain a normal temperature. Ligasano is used as a preventive measure and for existing pressure ulcers that occur when skin or tissue is exposed to constant pressure, and in cases of insufficient or no blood circulation for a longer or shorter period of time. If circulation is stopped for long enough, a number of cells die and it becomes increasingly difficult for blood flow to return. Within a few days, the dead cells collapse and the pressure ulcer is a fact.
